Dr. Sheeraz Janjua is widely recognised as the most reviewed optometrist in the UK, earning the trust of both his patients and professional peers. He is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists, holds a Doctor of Optometry qualification.

 

Having worked in optometry for more than 27 years, Dr. Janjua has built extensive expertise across a number of specialist areas including complex prescriptions, Dry AMD, Dry Eye Disease, glaucoma, medical retina, low vision, sports vision and paediatric eye care, with a particular interest in myopia management for children.

 

He has also been a pioneer in introducing advanced treatments into practice. Dr. Janjua was among the first optometrists in the UK to provide photomedicine, offering Photobiomodulation therapy for Dry AMD and LLLT and IPL treatments for Dry Eye Disease. He has a special interest in Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) and prescribes specific prescription spectacles to help with this condition.

 

His journey in optometry began in 1997, before graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Bradford in 2000. In 2009, he began studying for his Doctor of Optometry degree at Aston University, completing it in 2017 after conducting research into dry eye disease and nutritional factors.

During this period, he also achieved a Diploma in Sport Vision in 2010 through the Association of Sport Vision, and briefly worked with Derby County FC’s first-team players.

 

Dr. Janjua has achieved several advanced clinical qualifications awarded by the College of Optometrists, following rigorous examinations conducted through Cardiff University, including higher certifications in:

 

  • Glaucoma

  • Medical Retina

  • Low Vision

  • Paediatric Eye Care

He later completed a Master’s in Clinical Optometry at Cardiff University, undertaking a detailed literature review on photobiomodulation and diabetic eye disease.


His dedication to optometry has been recognised within the profession, including being named runner-up at the UK Optician Awards for:

  • Optometrist of the Year – 2025 and 2018

  • Independent Practice of the Year – 2019 (O’Brien’s Opticians – Brigg)
